Happy Labor Day!
Hope you are enjoying this lovely holiday and spending it productively! (Namely, working on your short story project or college essay).
Do you know the history behind Labor Day? Do you know why we celebrate it?
Well, if you are one of the first 2 people to answer those questions in the comments section, you will win a special prize in class tomorrow.
Good luck!
Labor Day is celebrated in the US to honor the "working man" and their contribution to our economy. It was inaugurated by the Knights of Labor in 1882. In 1894 the US Congress made it a national holiday.
ReplyDeleteIt is also the last day that it is fashionably acceptable to wear white due to the "No White After Labor Day Rule".

It's a national contribution dedicated to the social and economical work done by American workers. We celebrate this holiday to recognize the efforts of the average working person.
